I'M STILL HERE! eMOTION (with no 'e')

Ok, I know, I missed a lot this small space, and coming back is always an eMOTION, yes an Electronic MOTION!

Ok maybe it is correct to refer as DIGITAL MOTION...

Anyway, some days ago I used a product, the Leap Motion Controller!

Wait...

... AdBlock is it you???...

Ok.. Leap Motion Controller... I would like to talk about it, its company and so on but no $_$ omg :'( so the maximum suffered effort is: look on its website ultraleap.com.

As the name suggests... or not... this device allows to track hands movement and perform nice stuff as interacting with applications with your hands with no touch and so on, so could be a forward step with respect to the (OMG) touch on screens!

Maybe the solution could be still no mature for business users but it is very useful for researchers, developers, people with a fked brain like mine and emperors and kings of this GALAXY (Yes, Andromeda Galaxy is not included!).

There are nice applications to try with Leap Motion Controller but I don't want to focus on it, now I MUST use this post for WHO wants to start to develop nice applications with this device.

So, LET'S START:

Items:
Save LeapSDK folder, freeglut and glew folders in a path, for example "C:\Users\username\Documents\Libraries\".

Freeglut and glew are used only for those applications using GLUT.

For first, set a new environment variable by Windows System Properties. Search on search bar of Windows "System Properties", click on "System" --> "Advanced system settings" --> "Environment Variables..." and in the "System variables" window, click on "New..." and make a new environment variable:

Variable name: LEAP_SDK
Variable value: path of your LeapSDK (i.e. C:\Users\username\Documents\Libraries\LeapSDK)

Reboot the computer.

Open Visual Studio 2019 --> Create a new project --> Console App --> we can name the project as "LeapTest".

  • Open the Project Property Pages using the Project > Properties menu command.
  • Set up a Debug configuration:
    • Choose the Debug configuration as "Debug" or "Active(Debug)" and Platform as "x64" or "Active(x64)".
    • Add the SDK include directory to your project:
      • i.  Under Configuration Properties, select C/C++ > General.
      • ii. In the properties pane, add the SDK include directory to the Additional Include Directories field by adding:

        $(LEAP_SDK)\include
        C:\Users\admin\Documents\Libraries\freeglut\include
        C:\Users\admin\Documents\Libraries\glew\include

    • Add references to the Leap Motion libraries:
      • i. Under Configuration Properties, select Linker > General.
      • ii. In the properties pane, add the SDK lib\x64 directory to the Additional Library Directories field by adding:

        $(LEAP_SDK)\lib\x64
        C:\Users\admin\Documents\Libraries\glew\lib\Release\x64
        C:\Users\admin\Documents\Libraries\freeglut\lib\x64

      • iii. Select Linker > Input
      • iv. Add LeapC.lib;freeglut.lib;glew32.lib;glew32s.lib;opengl32.lib; to the Additional Dependencies field.

    • Add a Post-Build Event to copy the Leap Motion libraries to the project’s target executable directory.
      • i. Under Configuration Properties, select Build Events > Post-Build Event.
      • ii. Edit the Command Line field to copy the libraries, adding:

        xcopy /yr "$(LEAP_SDK)\lib\x64\LeapC.dll" "$(TargetDir)"
        xcopy /yr "C:\Users\admin\Documents\Libraries\glew\bin\Release\x64\glew32.dll" "$(TargetDir)"
        xcopy /yr "C:\Users\admin\Documents\Libraries\freeglut\bin\x64\freeglut.dll" "$(TargetDir)"
  • Set up a Release configuration:
    • Choose the Release configuration.
    • Repeat the steps above with configuration as "Release".

Let's guess you want to test some sample applications provided by Leap Motion in the LeapSDK/samples. This folder contains several examples of programs to test. Let's test the "ExampleConnection" program.

Go to the LeapTest project created at the beginning, and delete the .cpp file containing the main() function (LeapTest.cpp) because the samples are written in C and this could cause errors as "Unresolved external symbol..." due to the linking of .c objects with a .cpp object. At this point, make a new .c file that will contain the main() function.

On the right pane of Visual Studio, under the project, right-click on LeapTest --> Add... --> Existing Item... and select CallbackSample.c (containing the main() function), ExampleConnection.h and ExampleConnection.c. These files are contained in the LeapSDK/samples folder.

Connect the Leap Motion Controller to the computer, compile and build the solution and run the program.
Remember to build as x64 otherwise you will get the error of LeapC.h not found.

When the program is run, you can stop it by pressing Enter.

---------------------------------------

You can also test some GLUT application for having some interesting result. From your project delete the CallbackSample.c, we don't need it and, on the right pane of Visual Studio, under the project, right-click on LeapTest --> Add... --> Existing Item... and select GLUTSample.c, GLutils.c and GLutils.h.

Try again to build and run the application as x64 and your result will open a new graphical window like this:

VERY COOL!

The used LeapSDK is the latest version but in Preview mode, but I think it could have some improvement with respect the previous versions.

The only limit I'm seeing is related to keeping up one or two fingers of one hand and the result is a closed hand. Maybe it could be fixed by "playing" on the Leap functions.

I continue to test more this device... let's see this eMOTION...

Setting Free Virtual Private Network

I already treated how make your connection a VPN and connecting to it. Now I would like to treat how connect to a free VPN in our machine. We will use VPN offered by www.vpnbook.com. Now I'm on Windows 10 but the steps are similar on Linux machine.

Then

For first, we need to download and install OpenVPN client software from OpenVPN website. After the installation, we need to surf on www.vpnbook.com. Below we must click on OpenVPN tab and six servers available appear. Click on one of them and download the .zip file. This archive contains four .ovpn files. We must unzip the archive and copy the content to C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config. Then, if the OpenVPN client is running, near the clock (bottom-right of the desktop) there is the OpenVPN icon. Right-click on it and click on Connect, then on the tcp443 profile. It will ask us for Username and Password. Insert the credentials provided by the VPNbook website in the OpenVPN tab.

After this your are connected to the VPN. To verify it, try to use a lookup service for your IP address on internet.

Design, Organization = One Nation, One Station, One Simulation ==> ModelSim PE Student Edition on Windows 10

In the last year I studied VHDL to design circuits and other projects. For simulating each design, a free (and really good, for small projects) simulator is... is... IS...

IS

Yeah! IS is a simulator where you can understand that I'm joking now... So sad my jokes...

Anyway
SERIOUSLY!!!!!

this really good simulator is... is... IS... (stop please!!!! Come ON!)

Why I'm talking about ModelSim, precisely the ModelSim PE Student Edition?

Now I can tell you my history!

Once upon a time...

... The End!

STOP JOKING!!!

Ok ok ok ok... Uhm... If I write a post on my blog, it means that I must solve a problem about something.
We know that it is the PERIOD, the TIME, of... of... OF.,.

OF!

XD Ok stop XD

THE TIME OF

I noted that in Windows 10, ModelSim PE Student Edition 10.4a Setup doesn't start in Windows 10. the process is up but the setup doesn't start. I'm looking that a lot of people have this problem. A lot of people solved this problem terminating softwares (processes), for example Logitech processes for Mouse and Keyboard, Google Chrome, and so on. I think the problem, in general, is not these processes, but Windows Explorer.
Indeed, to solve this problem:
  1. First of all, download ModelSim PE Student Edition.
  2. Click on the downloaded file and extract all content of the file in another folder.
  3. Open the folder and execute the Setup.exe file. Nothing appears.
  4. Now, right-click on taskbar and click on Task Manager.
  5. My friend, now search Windows Explorer process and click on Restart.
  6. Windows Explorer restarts, then the start of setup of ModelSim PE Student Edition appears.
  7. Now it will remain at 100% for 5 minutes about. Wait this time please.
  8. After this time the Setup disappears, and it remains so, FOREVER! I joke! In this case you must (see point 9 XD)
  9. You must, again, restart Windows Explorer as before, for 2 or 3 times.
  10. Setup starts. Complete the installation. At the end of installation, if it freezes, if it doesn't respond, again restart Windows Explorer and wait that Finish Setup window appears.
At the end of all, browser opens and remember to fill out the form of Mentor to let them to send you via email the License to use ModelSim PE Studend Edition!

Ok! I tested this method with a lot of softwares up, like Chrome, Dropbox and so on, so I think the problem is Windows Explorer. Sorry for my start joking and I hope I could help you to solve this problem.
If you need to show this solution to other forums, I would thank you so much if you report also my blog as source.

And now I must terminate our meeting with a sad thought...

It's late and I need to eat something... (and I must work on DLX)... hungry........ hungry......

UPPPPPPPDATE: The problem is fixed with the most recent updates of Windows 10 operating system.

L0g1n Windows <----> Linux

Today, I needed to connect Windows and Linux, because I had to pass some files from Windows to Linux.

Here we see how we can connect to remote host by putty client, and how we can transfer files.
Here, we must use SSH, so we begin to run SSH server on Linux, assuming that port 22 is open (see last post).

So, run SSH server on Linux. On Windows, download putty.exe to allow connection between Win and Linux, and pscp.exe that works for file transfer.

So

First we see how we can connect to host Linux. Run putty.exe.
In Host Name field insert the IP address (in this case local IP (e.g 192.168.bla.bla) because my Linux is in same network of my Windows), and click on Open. Putty will ask you to import the key of the remote host, because it secures that you are connecting to the host that you want... It is a security precaution. However we will have

Insert your Linux username and password and press Enter. You will connect to your destination, in this case Linux machine.

Now we see how we can transfer one file from Linux to Windows. Now we use pscp.exe. We must open by cmd on Windows. So, go on cmd, open it, search pscp file and run it by cmd.

If you want to download a file from Linux machine, type:
  • pscp usernameDestination@IPhostdestination:pathOFfile pathOFdestination
 For example
  • pscp pippo@192.168.1.66:/home/pippo/photo.png c:\Users\Donald\Images
Press enter, type Linux account password and you will download requested file.

Dual-Boot Linux Windows 8.1

Hello!

Today I installed Windows 8.1 on my laptop, but this caused the disappearing of GRUB (boot-loader of Linux) and so I could not access to (Kali) Linux.

I solved the issue by EasyBCD software (--->http://neosmart.net/EasyBCD/)
First to all, I installed before Linux and then Windows 8.1. However to solve, we download EasyBCD software by link above, clicking on Register. After this, run EasyBCD, let's go on BCD Backup/Repair, and click on Backup Settings. Below to left, a "BCD backed up successfully" appears

Then, click on Add New Entry, click on Linux/BSD tab, and into Type field, select GRUB 2 (or another, according to your Linux distro), change the Name field like you want, and click on Add Entry

After, go to View Settings and you see

Restart your PC and you will see

Very Proud Ninjaaaaaaaaa!

YEAAAAAH!
Tonight FINALLY, and I say

I'm successful to set up a my personal Virtual Private Network!!
A VPN, is a private network between subjects that use, as transport infrastructure, a public and shared trasmission system (as Internet Network).
A VPN I see so:
It provides a virtual "LAN" between hosts that are geographically on several places, and in this case the "gateway" that forwards is Internet itself :). I see so simply -_-

In poor words, you, from network of your office or university or other places, you can connect to your (for example) home network by VPN.
However, my target was, since at Polytechnic of Turin the platform Steam is blocked and on Internet there aren't solutions, I think that a VPN can resolve my problem. Tonight I explain how I set up my VPN in my home network (because tomorrow I must connect at Polytechnic and to access INTO

About VPN, solutions on Internet I don't like, because they explain how to control a PC in your private network when you are out. I DON?T WANT THIS!!!!! Apart because there are TeamViewer and Hamachi for this, and is possible set up also with OpenVPN...

I WANT ONLY TO USE MY HOME NETWORK FROM POLYTECHNIC!!! Without control pc and similar...

However I have a Technicolor gateway of Fastweb, quite configurable. Moreover I work here on Windows 7.
Let's go step-by-step:

First of all, I join on www.dtdns.com, I registered my account and, in section hostnames, I make a hostname with my network ip. So, I gave a name of my host, I attached my Network IP to host, I chose IP type Static and I saved.

Then, I access on my router by browser. I go on toolbox, then dynamic DNS, then on right-up click on Configure and I mark on Enabled, Interface: Internet, Username and Password you must type your DtDNS account credentials, Service: DtDNS, Host: yourhostname.something.net (or org, or other), for example myhome.dtdns.net. Click on apply so we save all. We verify that while saving, there aren't errors.
Then you must forward ports. In my router, in the section Sharing games and applications, clicking on Assign a game or an application to local network device, there is a voice "PPTP Server" that, if it is actived, it forwards ports. Port is 1723.

Now let's move on Control Panel->Network and Internet->Network and Sharing Center. Then on left-up click on Change adapter settings, push ALT on keyboard and click on File->New Incoming Connection.
Choose or make an User (better make because you define your password for that user) which you will connect with. Click on Next, mark Through the Internet, on IPv4 you can assign manually IP or a range of IP or use DHCP. Then OK, then Allow access! In the end CLOSE.

Then, returning on Network and Sharing Center, below click on Set Up a Connection or Network. Then click on Connect to a workplace, click on Use my Internet connection (VPN), then as Internet Address you must type your hostname that you registered on dtdns.com (for example type myhome.dtdns.net). Then click on Next and in successive step you must insert Username and Password NOT of your DtDNS Account, but account credentials of USERS that you defined into previous step. Now click on

This guide is very simple, but you can improve security of this network... Try googling! Now I have to go TO BED!!! It'stooooooLATE!
However tomorrow, after Applied Electronics and Measures (and Operating Systems) lectures, I WILL UNLOCK STEAM FROM POLITO NETWORK BY MY NINJVPN!
Apart that so, since VPN is a virtual LAN :D it's possible to play in LAN on INTERNET O_O
PARADOX!!!
GoodNight!

Impossible2Possible

Today, I took a LOOK to

I2P is a free software and Open Source to the realization of a ANONYMOUS NETWORK.
Here, all data are wrapped with different levels of encryption.
I2P is a a level of anonymous communication PEER-TO-PEER distribuited, designed to perform any traditional web service (Usenet, E-mail, IRC, file sharing, Web hosting e HTTP, Telnet).
It is also in beta version, so not also able to strong anonymous use.

By I2P, is possible to access to "Eepsite", that are websites hosted into this anonymous network I2P. Usually, these websites end with .i2p

Other "new friends" are EepProxy, that is a program that manages all communication between browser and every eepsite. It works as a proxy server that can be used by whatever browser web.
Other friends are PEERS, that are other users or applications that use I2P and that are connected to you into the network. Every machine into the network shares routing and transmission of encrypted packets.

NOW!
you say: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE WITH

SO! Now I explain HOW to install this software

First of all, go here and download the latest version of i2p for your OS. The installation is simple.

Now SEE:  in Windows, in Start/All programs/I2P we have 3 files: I2P Router Console, that checks if we started the connection to I2P Network; Start I2P (no window) and Start I2P (restartable), that starts the connection to I2P Network.
After this, in Windows, to avoid authorization problems, we click on one of two Start I2P, but Run as
Administrator (otherwise it can give error into console)... Or we start CMD as Administrator, position on C:\Program Files\i2p (default path), and type:
i2psvc.exe -c wrapper.config

Done this, let's wait some minute that the connection starts. After this, automatically, our browser opens and reminds us to CONSOLE ROUTER I2P

This is at the address: 127.0.0.1:7657
To work into I2P Network, now we must download FoxyProxy (or another manager) for our browser. In this way, we can switch from default connection to I2P connection
Downloaded FoxyProxy, and possibly restarting our browser, click with left of mouse FoxyProxy Icon, and click on New Proxy. Appears a window... Type like this:

Click on OK, then Close, and so, when you want to surf with I2P Network, click with right of mouse on FoxyProxy Icon, and click on Use "localhost:4444" for all Url.

For a Video Tutorial (NOT MINE): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5J3nh1DoRMw
Note: When you surf on I2P, we can connected with Eepsite, and also with normal websites... BUT in Google and Facebook (and others) doesn't
